The grandchildren of legendary Chicago gangster Al Capone will sell 174 family heirlooms at an Oct. 8 auction titled “A Century of Notoriety: The Estate of Al Capone” in Sacramento, California. The family heirlooms include his favorite gun that he called “Sweetheart” (estimated value $150K), his diamond-monogrammed watch ($50K), engraved jewelry, furniture from the Palm Island home, family photos and more. Schenia Smith, 42, of the 15300 block of Evers Street in Dolton, was the person who died, according to Natalia Derevyanny, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office. Smith was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 10:28 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
“King has played a lot of football for us, been a little injured here and there, but we want him to go out there and play his brand of football,” Brohm said. “Dylan has come in and proven that he’ll run the ball hard, and he understands what we’re doing. He’s a tremendous worker and gives us everything he has.”
Home Depot, meanwhile, said it helped catch a man who allegedly used e-commerce sites to sell merchandise stolen from the retailer’s stores, including some in Illinois earlier this summer. Law enforcement recovered nearly $50,000 in merchandise from the man’s home, according to Kyle Penoyer, who leads investigations at Home Depot.
The measure aims to put Illinois on a path to 100% carbon-free energy by 2050, with coal, oil and natural gas-fired power plants scheduled to close over the coming decades. It also seeks to boosts the development of wind and solar energy across the state, put more electric vehicles on the road, and make it easier for Black and Latino workers and businesses to enter the renewable energy industry.
