The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to unfold across North America, with 11 host cities throughout Canada, Mexico, and the United States welcoming matches during the summer tournament. Forty-eight countries, the largest number in the history of the tournament, will compete.

The competition kicks off on June 11, 2026, when co-host Mexico opens the event in Mexico City. The United States (Los Angeles) and Canada (Toronto) begin their campaigns the following day. Group-stage play continues through June 27, with the final round of matches in each group scheduled simultaneously to ensure fairness.

From there, the top two nations in each group—plus the eight highest-ranking third-place teams—progress to the knockout phase, which begins June 28 with the Round of 32.

Note: Stadiums with corporate naming rights will be temporarily renamed during the World Cup. FIFA’s sponsorship policies prohibit the use of branded stadium titles, so venues will be referenced by city-based names throughout the tournament.
