A 24-year-old Joliet man was shot to death Saturday in the parking lot of an Alsip business while another man was shot and killed Friday in Chicago Heights, according to authorities.
Alsip police said they responded to a report of shots fired at about 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a business in the 4800 block of 111th Street.
A man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Trevale Robinson, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday.
Robinson, of the 1300 block of Justice Lake Drive in Joliet, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the office.
Alsip police Lt. Todd Gutkowski said detectives are reviewing information including surveillance camera images. He said Robinson was a victim of “a straight ambush” in the parking lot, and said there was no altercation leading up to the shooting.
Police said a group of people in two vehicles were part of the shooting and fled the scene. Gutkowski said police as of Monday do not know how many people may have fired shots, and could not say whether anyone of interest had been identified.
Separately, a 24-year-old Chicago Heights man died Friday after being shot multiple times in the 1540 block of Edgewood Avenue, according to the medical examiner.
Nicholaus Cooper, of the 0-99 block of East 24th Street, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1 p.m., and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the office.
