Beyond the CBT, two focal points for players center on better compensation for younger and less experienced big-leaguers: increasing the minimum salary and the creation of a pre-arbitration pool to allocate money to the top qualifying players. Despite by far playing the most games in a season, MLB ($570,500) has the lowest minimum salary compared with the NBA ($898,310), NHL ($750,000) and NFL ($610,00). The MLBPA reportedly proposed a $725,000 minimum salary that rises by $20,000 every year, compared with MLB offering $700,000 with a $10,000 increase per year.
