McHenry County authorities said Wednesday that a Waukegan man has been charged with attempted murder in an alleged April road rage shooting.

Juan Colon, 26, was taken into custody Friday on charges that he fired a gun at another motorist on April 24 in the McHenry area, according to the McHenry County sheriff’s department.

Authorities say Colon and an Island Lake man were driving in the 800 block of Black Partridge Road at about 12:30 p.m. on April 24 when they became embroiled in an altercation with another motorist.

Police said Colon shot at the other vehicle, but its driver was not struck by gunfire.

Authorities identified the man with Colon as Joseph W. Crisara III, 35. He was taken into custody five days after the shooting at his residence in the 300 block of Tulip Lane, police said.

During the arrest, police say they discovered a large cache of narcotics in Crisara’s possession, and he was charged with felony drug charges in addition to obstructing justice and aiding a fugitive.

An arrest warrant was issued for Colon in late April.

In addition to attempted murder, he is charged with being an armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm, police said.
