The Associated Press has declared incumbent Democratic Rep. Mike Quigley the winner in the 5th Congressional District.
Quigley faced a familiar opponent as he sought a seventh full term in Congress.

This was the fourth time commercial real estate agent Tom Hanson ran as a Republican for the seat, and the third time he squared off against Quigley, a Democrat, in a district that now winds from north of downtown through Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville and then twists northwest through the city and suburbs all the way to Lake Zurich.
Quigley defeated Hanson in both 2018 and 2020 with more than 70% of the vote.

Quigley launched a local political campaign committee and polled potential voters about a potential run for Chicago mayor before announcing this April that he would not enter the race.
He sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Also on the ballot was Independent Jerico Matias Cruz.
