The Urban League of Northwest Indiana (ULNWI) held a press conference on July 26, 2022, announcing an innovative initiative with Ring.
The collaboration is intended to support senior residents of Northwest Indiana in the spirit of advancing community safety. Delivering remarks were Urban League of NWI President and CEO Dr. Vanessa Allen-McCloud, Indiana State Senator Eddie Melton (virtually), UL Federation of Block Clubs representative Marcella Gregory, and Ring representative Kyle Degiulio. Other community supporters were also in attendance.
“The safety of our seniors is always a priority in the communities we serve,” said Urban League of NWI President and CEO Dr. Vanessa Allen-McCloud. “Our community program with Ring not only provides an additional layer of protection but can help provide peace of mind for interested seniors and their loved ones.”
Indiana State Senator Eddie Melton was able to express his excitement and many benefits for interested residents.
“I’m excited to support the Urban League of Northwest Indiana and Ring’s collaboration,” Sen. Melton said. “The Urban League of Northwest Indiana has had a profound impact in the communities it serves and I believe the devices being offered will give seniors and their loved ones an extra sense of peace in their homes. The 1,000 Ring Video Doorbells that are set to be donated to seniors is just one of many initiatives I’m supporting to promote safety in my community. It’s an ongoing effort, and I’m excited that Ring is stepping up to not only make this donation but is working with the Urban League to ensure seniors are fully able to take advantage of the benefits of their device.”
ULNWI shared a donation from Ring for seniors in various communities across Northwest Indiana.
Ring, whose mission is to make neighborhoods safer, and ULNWI, whose mission is to promote cultural diversity and economic opportunities in African American and minority communities, are hopeful that this collaboration will provide peace of mind to residents and help advance the Urban League’s community building initiatives.
The press conference to announce the Ring donation and discuss the Urban League’s mission was held at the Urban League of NWI, 3101 Broadway, in Gary.

Program Overview
Up to 1,000 Ring Video Doorbells will be donated at no cost to senior residents 55 years and older.
Ring will cover the installation cost associated with the donated device.
Ring will provide a Ring Protect Basic video recording subscription for the life of the donated device at no cost to senior residents.
Ring will provide a Security Yard Sign with each donated device at no cost to senior residents.
Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be selected to receive a donated device on a first come, first served basis.
