The National Weather Service warned of the possibility of strong to severe storms in the Chicago area Sunday night and of one or two tornadoes.
But the main concerns are hail and damaging winds of up to 70 mph, as well as heavy downpours that might lead to localized flooding.

The storms will be moving in from the west over northern and central Illinois, according to the weather service.
“The majority of the severe threat looks like it’ll remain off to the southwest of the Chicago metro, but there still is a potential that perhaps a stronger severe storm or two does make its way into the Chicago metro,” said Rafal Ogorek, a meteorologist with the weather service.

Ogorek added that the risk for tornadoes in the Chicago metro was “very low.”
Meteorologists recommend people remain alert and follow weather warnings during the evening and into the night.
