Chicago police said an officer was shot Monday evening in the Englewood neighborhood on the city’s South Side.
The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported from the scene in the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue to University of Chicago Medical Center, according to a tweet by the Chicago Police Department shortly before 8 p.m.
No additional details were immediately available. Police were planning a news conference Monday night near the intersection of South Cottage Grove Avenue and East 57th Street, at the northwest corner of the hospital.
