Police said Monday they continue to investigate a mass shooting in Ford Heights that left a 21-year-old Chicago woman dead and four people wounded.
Cook County sheriff’s police said they responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 7 p.m. Friday at a gathering in the 1400 block of Senator Lane, and officers found five people wounded.
All were taken to hospitals, including Adaija Wilson, of Chicago, who was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. Friday at Franciscan Health Hospital in Dyer, Indiana, according to the Lake County, Indiana, coroner’s office.
An autopsy was scheduled but her manner of death was ruled a homicide, according to the coroner’s office.
Sheriff’s police said three other women and a man were wounded, but it was not clear whether they remained hospitalized.
