Britt Reid, the former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach and son of Andy Reid, will plead guilty to DWI in connection with a 2021 car crash that put a 5-year-old girl in a coma.
Reid, now 37, slammed into a parked car carrying Ariel Young on Feb. 4, 2021, outside the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium.

Cops said Reid was going 83 mph in a 65 mph zone and that his blood-alcohol level was 0.113, significantly above the legal limit of 0.08.
Ariel was rushed to a nearby hospital and was in a coma for 11 days. She didn’t leave the hospital until April 2, nearly two months after the crash. Her family said she suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Reid was also seriously injured in the crash; he was rushed to a hospital for groin surgery.
The Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers three days after the crash. They let Reid’s contract expire shortly afterward, but retained his father as head coach.
In June 2021, Reid pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated. In November, the Chiefs reached a confidential settlement with Ariel’s family.
Reid’s lawyer announced Tuesday that his client intends to plead guilty at a Monday hearing. Reid was scheduled to face a trial beginning Sept. 26. He faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
