Everyday People came through Chicago this past weekend with its globally-acclaimed day party. On June 30, attendees packed the Salt Shed on the city’s North Side, situated along the river on what was formerly Morton’s Salt factory.
Tickets for the event sold-out almost immediately. Featuring a one-stage setup, various DJs played everything from Afrobeats and Amapiano to hip hop and Chicago’s juke music. When Kendrick Lamar’s popular diss track, “Not Like Us,” played through the speakers, the crowd went up.
Restaurant vendors sold egg rolls, tacos and pizza; and the bars had plenty of cucumber gin and tonics and margaritas to go around.
The party lasted from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and included a reunion of actors, actresses and more from the Showtime/Paramount+ TV show “The Chi,” which is based and set in Chicago. Spotted at the party was actress Lynn Whitfield, rapper Omen and actor/singer Rotimi, among others.
