On Oct. 2, 2020, police received a call about a woman found dead in her home in the 900 block of South Hamilton Street in Lockport. Officers found Ashtin Eaton, 32, and Hazel Bryant, 14 months, according to the release.

An autopsy determined Eaton was strangled and Bryant was asphyxiated and both causes of death were ruled a homicide, according to the release.

Eaton and Maggio are the infant’s parents and they previously dated, according to the release.

Maggio was arrested at his home and is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility, according to the release.

Lockport police Deputy Chief Ron Huff said the two-year investigation required detectives to review more than 100 pieces of evidence and follow many leads.

“It was really good detective work that allowed us to make an arrest in the case,” Huff said.
