Chicago will be ‘cloudy, cool and wet’ Wednesday with possible soaking rains

Don’t let the unassuming morning sky deceive you: Meteorologists expect “soaking” rain Wednesday.

Despite a crisp dawn, the weather in Chicago will be “cloudy, cool and wet,” according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists say showers with a period of soaking rain are likely throughout the area and especially east of Interstate 55. The bad climate looks like it’ll linger between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., with a chance for isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to the weather service. The high is 66 degrees, with a low of 55 degrees.

“Some of the downpours (Wednesday) will be heavy in places, so if driving during the rain, you should allow a little extra time,” according to the weather service website.

Looking ahead, Chicagoans in need of reprieve following that “brutal” spring might find it this weekend.

“The area will dry out for Thursday before additional chances for rain arrive overnight Thursday into Friday. Temperatures are expected to generally remain at or below normal through the weekend,” the National Weather Service said.
