In a fitting start to Halloween, widespread fog settled over Chicago early Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
But luckily for trick-or-treaters, the fog and drizzle will clear out by 10 a.m., though patchy fog may persist through noon.

“That fog should continue here for at least the next several hours, before gradually improving as we head into the afternoon hours,” meteorologist Todd Kluber said.
Visibility will be less than a mile out, so meteorologists cautioned drivers to increase following distance, slow down and use low beam headlights during the morning commute.

For those planning to spend a lot of time outside, temperatures will be mild — in the upper 50s to lower 60s in the afternoon and in the 50s in the evening.

“It does look like most of the metro, say by four or five o’clock, should be in the clear side. And by clear I mean precipitation-free, maybe just a little bit of drizzle lingering around,” Kluber said.
The one exception, he added, would be the far south suburbs and northwest Indiana, where showers may continue until about 6 or 7 p.m.
