A Chicago man was found shot to death in Oak Park Saturday morning after being struck by bullets fired from a passing vehicle, according to Oak Park police.

According to a news release from the village, officials said police responded to the vicinity of Chicago and Lombard avenues around 3:42 a.m. on a call of shots fired.

A man, now identified by authorities as Rayshawn Hudgins, 31, of Chicago, was found face-down near a garage in the 400 block of North Lombard Avenue.

The release states that Hudgins had been walking westbound on Chicago Avenue “when he was confronted by a vehicle that fired multiple shots with an unknown handgun. The vehicle fled westbound on Chicago Avenue. The preliminary police investigation indicates that Hudgins was targeted by an assailant.”
