National weather officials are expecting thunderstorms to develop Wednesday evening with winds up to 60 mph in portions of north-central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana.
The chance of thunderstorms increases after midnight possibly producing strong winds with gusts of up to 60 mph, officials said.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue Thursday with temperatures into the 70s or lower 80s, making storms more severe in the afternoon and evening hours. Southerly winds could see gusts up to 40 mph as the storm moves northeast, officials said.
Current morning conditions at Midway Airport are overcast at 52 degrees, and at O’Hare International Airport conditions are the same at 50 degrees.
