“It’s undesirable, but I understand this topic is important to everybody that cares about the game. The Bears spent this offseason putting together their latest reboot of the quarterback position, signing Andy Dalton and trading up to draft Justin Fields. The Vikings have had their share of QB issues too, bringing in Favre after his stint with the New York Jets, trading for Sam Bradford and more recently signing Kirk Cousins to what, at the time, was a record-setting contract.

“It’s an honor being inside this building where his impact was directly felt, carries over into the history of our organization,” Judge said. “A coach around the league that worked together and had a lot of good relationships, have a lot of respect for his son (John), just all the respect in the world for what they are doing, and obviously our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the impact he made here for the Giants. It’s something we talked about as a team and we’ll make sure we reflect on.”

Down 4-0, the Cubs answered with three runs off Padres starter Brian Weathers in the fourth, scoring a pair on a swinging bunt by Jake Marisnick — who was just activated off the injured list — and a throwing error on the play by Weathers. Sergio Alcántara’s sacrifice fly pulled the Cubs within a run, giving Alzolay a chance to redeem himself.
