The 2020 Summer Olympic Games take place between July 23 and August 8 in and around Tokyo, Japan. With 33 sports at 339 events across 42 venues, the Games are documented by hundreds of photographers from around the world, including Chicago Tribune’s Brian Cassella. Here are some of the best images from this year’s Olympics to date.
She missed her second and third lifts, both at 125 kilograms. On the second one, she brought the barbell above her head, but the lift was disqualified because she did not keep her arms completely straight. After her third miss, she pounded her heart, lifted her hands in the air, took a bow and walked offstage.

Suguru Iwazaki, Koudai Senga, Yasuaki Yamasaki, Yudai Ohno and Ryoji Kuribayashi (1-0) combined for 5 1/3 innings of one-hit scoreless relief. The only blemish against Japan’s bullpen was Triston Casas’ second homer of the tournament, a three-run drive in the third. That put the U.S. ahead 6-3 against Koyo Aoyogi, who gave up five hits in one inning.

There is another path toward an extension, a rarely used provision that would allow the Bulls to renegotiate LaVine’s contract. The Bulls can use their cap space to increase LaVine’s salary for the upcoming season and then build an extension off that number, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Only eight players have seen their contracts renegotiated, the last of which was Robert Covington with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017.
