“She still had the gold medal around her neck,” Quinn said with a wide smile after Monday’s training camp practice. “I’m still in disbelief like, ‘Naw, that’s not real.’ That’s my baby sister and she’s an Olympian. I don’t know, man. I can brag about that.”

In his third year, Smith totaled 139 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, four sacks, six quarterback hits, seven passes defended, two interceptions and a forced fumble. His production earned him a place on the Associated Press All-Pro second team, though he was snubbed for his first Pro Bowl nod.
“We were certainly on the buy side of this transaction and everyone was calling about that,” he said. “Now obviously people are calling to see which people are available, so it’s a very different scenario than we expected. Life comes at you fast. Eleven days ago, this is not where we were at mentally.”
Spain had won three consecutive Olympic medals, taking silvers after losing to the U.S. in the gold-medal games in 2008 and 2012, followed by a bronze in 2016 after falling to the U.S. in the semifinals. And this may be the last time that the Spanish roster has some of its longtime mainstays; Pau Gasol is 41, other top players like Marc Gasol and Rudy Fernandez are much closer to the end than the beginning, and this might have been Spain’s best chance to beat the U.S. at the Olympics.
Biles arrived on the floor about 90 minutes before the competition started, wearing a red, white and blue leotard emblazoned with nearly 5,000 crystals. If she was nervous, it hardly showed. She warmed up as if it was just another day back in the gym her family owns in the northern Houston suburbs. Twice she hopped onto the beam to do a run-through of her routine and she stuck her double-pike dismount to applause from the stands and the whir of dozens of cameras.
The injury marked yet another disappointment connected to these Games for Morris, who had hoped to be here with her husband, Tyrone Smith, a Bermudian long jumper who was raised in North Chicago. The pair, who fell in love at the Rio Olympics, wanted to compete in Tokyo as a married couple before Smith retired from the sport.
Covering the distance between hurdles 13 powerful steps at a time, Warholm never came close to breaking stride. He sped over the line with arms flailing, but that didn’t cost him much. Low 46 had been a long-imagined dream for most of these hurdlers. Now the mark is in the high 45s.
Paul agreed to a contract to remain with the Western Conference champion Phoenix Suns, another person with knowledge of that deal said. It would be worth nearly $120 million if all four years are completed and would push Paul’s career earnings past the $400 million mark. He turned down a $44.2 million option for next season to negotiate a longer deal, and after the success the Suns had in their run to the NBA Finals, it seemed doubtful he would look to play elsewhere.
