“Even last year, Duncs was here and Seabs was around. This year, without those two guys who are such good players, but also their voice carries a lot of weight in the locker room. You’d wake up and be excited to see Seabrook at the rink, just to hear what he had to say. His stupid little jokes all the time. Definitely miss that.
The Cubs don’t feature much postseason experience on their 26-man roster. That group is limited to Willson Contreras, Ian Happ, Kyle Hendricks, Zach Davies, Heuer, Austin Romine, David Bote and Jason Heyward. Davies and Romine are free agents after the season. Collectively, this roster needs to learn how to win together, along with whomever the organization brings in during the offseason.

What I mean to say is not only are there people now looking at positions like safety, which was ignored for a long time, I believe specialists are going to get a longer look than they probably did when I first got on the committee — I hate to say it — it’s been 30 years.
