Ryan Santoso made a go-ahead, 35-yard field goal with 1:04 left, giving coach Dan Campbell an opportunity to win his first game with the Lions (0-3). Santoso was promoted from the practice squad Saturday after kicker Austin Seibert went on the COVID-19 reserve list.
How he got the start: In March, the Bears offered Glennon a three-year, $45 million deal with $18.5 guaranteed. The free agent spent the previous two seasons as backup to Jameis Winston in Tampa Bay and had a starting record of 5-13. Just seven weeks after Glennon arrived in Chicago, the Bears traded up to draft North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Despite this move, Glennon’s name sat at the top of the Bears’ depth chart — that changed after Week 4 when Trubisky was promoted.
Slonina, in just his fourth career start, had the save of the game when he he blocked a point-blank header from Daniel Rios in the 74th minute. Slonina made his first appearance on Aug. 4 as the youngest keeper to start in league history at age 17 years, 81 days.
“I love the green grass, the horses, the winning, the losing, the sheer excitement of it,” said Watts, who said he’s a $2 better, with his biggest win ever being $300. “I’m really very, very sad today. We were just asking each other, ‘what are we going to do next summer?’ I guess my lawn will finally get mowed.”

The Bulls have improved and are going to carry increased expectations in a competitive Eastern Conference, but just how well all the pieces mesh will be worth watching. Offensively, the team has a chance to be one of the NBA’s elite. The defense will be a work in progress, but coach Billy Donovan has never coached a defense that finished lower than 12th in the NBA. He’ll have his work cut out for him this season, including finding rotations and lineup combinations that make sense right away.
“He comes in with the winning mentality,” Montgomery said. “You would think from a magnifying glass he’d have so much pressure on him just being in the position that he is. But he’s so calm and composed. He’s just taking every rep as a game rep, and it’s very cool to see.”
“There are so many other players outside of him who are opting out, I would like to think they would make a way,” Tyki Irving told Rolling Stone. “It could be like every third game. So it still gives you a full season of being interactive and being on the court, but with the limitations that they’re, of course, oppressing upon you.”
“Better at-bats, hit the ball in the strike zone, don’t chase,” La Russa said. “Can’t strike out like we’ve been striking out (eight Saturday). A day like today we’re back on our heels. The other team beat us to the punch, offensively and defensively. That’s not how we play.”
