Meanwhile, on the official Cubs website, a link to spring training tickets at Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz. revealed spring games through March 17 have been canceled. “Despite its (sic) best efforts, Major League Baseball has not yet been able to reach a new collective bargaining agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Association,” the apostrophe-challenged statement explained, adding: “Rest assured, MLB is working diligently to reach a new agreement with the MLBPA as soon as possible without any further disruption to the Spring Training schedule.”
Colleen Henley, 32, also purchased a half-season plan. She put her name on the waitlist about eight years ago and never thought the day would arrive. She grew up a Cubs fan thanks to her mom, Kathleen, and grandmother, Mary, watching games on WGN, and decided to “do it for the girls.”

“All week, we just talked about our competitive fight,” first-year UNC coach Hubert Davis said, “that we had to do three things: We had to plant our feet, we had to stand our ground and we had to fight. … I just felt like, as the game went on, we started to just gain more and more confidence.”

“The 14-team format MLB originally proposed offers significant advantages to division winners and provides incentives to win at every level of the bracket,” MLB spokesman Glen Caplin said Saturday. “In an effort to compromise, MLB accepted a 12-team format after the discussion of formats, including a ‘ghost game.’ MLB made clear that the ‘ghost game’ raises serious issues and is not a viable path forward.”
