“The SWAT team responded to a commercial building for a call of approximately four males with guns,” a police statement said. “A group of people were having a gathering in one of the rooms inside the building” on its third floor, when someone in the room, “called for police after stating they observed individuals with guns outside the door.”
In turn, the number of individuals providers can support is also limited by state funding. The result is a list of 7,400 adults who are waiting for access to community programs, which include group homes, job coaching and in-home support. The waiting list is expected to be reduced by about 1,600 in the coming fiscal year, leaving 5,800 adults seeking services, DHS spokeswoman Marisa Kollias said.
Yet the tower is no garish exercise in the McBuilding style of architecture, no fast food for the eyes. On the contrary, it is a softly shimmering structure that takes on a surreal appearance during most hours of the day, except when a rising or setting sun sets its reflective glass sides ablaze. Shaneera Bell, 27, of Waukegan, died from blunt force trauma after she was partially ejected from her vehicle, police said Monday. A passenger in her car, a Waukegan man in his 20s, was taken to a hospital with what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.

Day camps for those ages 6 to 12, the bulk of Park District campers, run from June 28 to Aug. 6. There also will be play camps for kids ages 3 to 5 and teens ages 13 to 17, although traditionally, the hours and scope of those programs have been more limited.
As of Sunday night, 1,906 people in Illinois were hospitalized with COVID-19, with 473 patients in intensive care units and 242 patients on ventilators. The seven-day average of total hospitalizations is 1,984, the lowest since an average of 1,981 was reported April 15.
Wanzo had been an administrator and supervisor of vehicle services with the Illinois Secretary of State’s office. She oversaw the public service center at the Howlett Building in Springfield, where vehicle owners can pay title and registration fees, apply and pay for license plates and make sales tax payments for vehicles.
