Kyrin and his family, of Kansas City, Missouri, were in Hammond to visit relatives for the May 15 weekend, and a hotel camera caught the boy running from the Best Western Hotel just west of Cline Avenue shortly after noon May 15. Kyrin’s great-aunt, Patricia Duckworth, said May 17 that Kyrin and his grandmother were in the room together May 15 when the grandmother dozed off for a bit. Kyrin left their room, first to the front of the hotel, she said.
Along the way, ComEd’s profits greatly increased. Abe Scarr, PIRG’s director, noted that ComEd’s profit the last seven years amounted to $3.6 billion. By comparison, in the previous 13 years dating back to 2001, the company made $4.1 billion in profit, Scarr said.

About 6:30 p.m., the 28-year-old just finished changing a friend’s flat tire in the 4700 block of West 64th Street, according to Chicago police. A young man wearing a ski mask and dark clothing walked over and tried to snatch the 28-year-old’s car keys, sparking a struggle between the two.
Just before 6:50 p.m. in the 200 block of West Washington Street, a woman was walking her pit bull and Akita dogs on leashes when they met another woman who was walking a smaller white dog nearby, according to Palatine police. The two dogs “made contact” with the other animal and slipped out of their owner’s control, attacking the smaller dog. As the woman of the smaller dog tried to shield her pet, she also was bit, police said.

Haven Bailey, 25, called 911 just after 2 a.m. to report a person with a gun on the street in the 200 block of East Kenilworth Avenue in Villa Park, where she lived, according to a statement from Villa Park police. Officers from Villa Park arrived and found someone walking toward them while holding what appeared to be a gun.
The seven-person board would be able to vote on a resolution of no-confidence in the superintendent, but wouldn’t have power to remove the top cop. Under the GAPA plan Lightfoot supported as a candidate, the commission would have had power to take steps to fire superintendents but could be overruled by the City Council, as well as set police department policies.
“One of the things that I think we can’t ever lose sight of is people came forward and said they were victimized and they deserve to be heard,” Lightfoot said. “The archdiocese went through a process to evaluate those allegations and again, we’ll learn more in the coming days, I would suspect, as to what that process was, but the fact those men now came forward and spoke (their) truth is something we can’t ever undermine or underestimate.” Full story here.
