The complaint alleges that a white Chevrolet Malibu followed an unmarked law enforcement vehicle that the three officers were riding in. The vehicle pulled up next to the law enforcement vehicle, and the officers saw the driver’s side window roll down. A man, later identified as McLaurin, fire shots into their vehicle, the complaint said.

The indictment alleged that between them, Austin and Wilson got new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, bathroom tiling, sump pumps and an HVAC system for free or at a discount. The central developer in the indictment, now deceased, was working on a 91-unit project in Austin’s Far South Side ward.
Tony Shields, 29, of the South Shore neighborhood, was arrested July 6 in Rock Island by the Chicago Police Department and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, after being identified as the person who allegedly stabbed Malcom Mullins, 29, of Broadview, police said.
Ronald Armour, 41, of the 6300 block of South Sangamon Street, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated battery of someone older than 60 and home invasion causing injury, according to authorities. He was expected to appear in court for a bond hearing later Thursday.

In the days after the wreck, a number of bodies were picked up by fishing tugs near Two Rivers, Wisconsin. The dead reported by the Tribune included the Beau brothers, Martin and Henry, of Chicago; E.H. Borland, a traveling salesman from Milwaukee; and Charles Curtis, a cabin boy found with a letter from his mother back in Germany “carefully preserved” in his pocket. Others were identified in the paper only by their height, hair color, personal effects and scars. One person survived the wreck: a crewman named Axel Stone.

The exchange program gives students from Midwestern states tuition discounts at participating universities. While public colleges and universities typically charge a premium to out-of-state students, those in the program agree to charge eligible students no more than 150% of the school’s in-state tuition for specific programs, and private colleges offer a 10% reduction in tuition, according to the Midwestern Higher Education Compact, which oversees the program. Students typically save $500 to $5,000 per year, the compact said.
“Eligible residents are automatically entered into the lotteries,” the state said. “There are no sign ups, no forms, and no waiting lines. IDPH will continue to check their records before each drawing. Once entered, residents remain eligible in all future drawings, unless they win.”
