“And in my head, as a kid, I kind of thought ‘Well, it’s just a show, why does it matter if we look like the adults that will be playing our parents?’ ” Franklin said. “I knew I wouldn’t get that part, because I knew the neighborhood I was in and that most likely there wouldn’t be too many adults auditioning that looked like me.”
More specifically, at least 15 states reportedly have banned or restricted it. In Illinois, a proposed law would require lab testing and labeling for any product containing CBD, delta-8-THC or other cannabinoids, which are components of cannabis that affect the human body. The CBD Safety Act would have the state Department of Agriculture set the rules for testing, and would let police and regulators inspect any business that handles cannabinoids. Violators would be subject to criminal fines.
In February, the mayor’s commission on monuments flagged statues of Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant and William McKinley, as well as a Benjamin Franklin statue, a police memorial tied to the Haymarket Riot and a statue of Leif Ericson at Humboldt Park, as potentially problematic.
Under Cook County’s ethics ordinance, no officials can participate in the hiring of their own relative, including first cousins, to work at an agency over which they have authority. The Board of Review has a separate ethics policy, which the Tribune has requested under the Freedom of Information Act, that was cited in the May letter to Wendt.
“Based on feedback from our public health experts at the local, state and federal levels, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), we will require that masks/cloth face coverings continue to be worn indoors by everyone, regardless of vaccination status, except for while eating or drinking. This includes students, educators, support staff and all visitors to school buildings,” interim CPS Chief Executive Officer José Torres wrote in a letter to parents.
Christopher Solis-Govea, of Evergreen Park, was arrested Tuesday in the 2600 block of West 90th Place, the same block where he lives, according to police. Although Chicago police identified the man as Solis-Govea, he was referred to as Christopher Solis in court.
“I agree with you that there are some people who in police departments who do really good at multiple choice tests that are not the best leaders,” Brown answered. “So, there are gold standard testing programs across the country that other departments have used for years. For whatever reason, Chicago hadn’t adopted best practices. … We want to find the gold standard testing mechanism that fits our needs, and I will be, through the consent decree, aggressively pursuing a replacement for merit.”

“If (investigators) went to one of these bars he hung out at, they would’ve saw him sitting at a poker machine with a beer in his hand,” Clancy said. “He gambled in grammar school, he gambled in high school, he gambled before he was a police officer, he gambled while he was a police officer.”
Police say Brunt was allegedly involved in a May 23 shooting in Park Manor. A woman was in the 7300 block of South Prairie Avenue around 1:30 a.m. with friends when she was approached by a man, who she later identified as Brunt. The man engaged her in conversation, and when she noticed he had a gun in his waistband, she entered her car.
