The brothers were born in Hope, Arkansas, the same birthplace as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, grew up on Chicago’s West Side and later moved to the South Side, where they made their political leap. During the 1970s, they became a political force and made their marks by wearing similar hairpieces and having squabbles within the Democratic Party, particularly with former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.

“If they feel that it’s not a benefit to them and vaccinating with a vaccination that’s not FDA-approved — that if it was FDA-approved would have been taken off the shelf about 5,000 or 6,000 deaths ago — if they feel that that’s not in their safety and that, you know, it’s not good for their health, then it’s a free country,” he said. “They should not have to take it.”

Last week, archdiocese officials said fully vaccinated students, teachers and staff members will not need to wear masks in schools this fall, where they are anticipating a return to “near-normal, pre-pandemic” operations, including the resumption of school Masses, all extracurricular activities and before- and after-school care programs.

“We are asking all members vote yes or no, but make sure you vote,” he also said. “We are trying to send the city a message that this membership is engaged in what goes on more than ever before. We need a giant number. There will be over 11,000 votes available. It’d be great to have 11,000 ballots-plus coming back just to let the city know enough is enough.”
