Police in the suburb said they responded to a disturbance call at Advocate Christ Medical Center at about 8:30 a.m. Evalena Flores, identified as the mother of the brothers, allegedly tried to enter the room of Emonte Morgan, 21, who is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons offenses in the killing of Chicago police Officer Ella French.

Sandy Cunningham, operating a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and a Honda Civic driven by a 49-year-old Griffith, Indiana, woman were traveling north on Illinois 394, with the Honda in the right lane and the motorcycle in the left lane, according to police.
Even within these workshops, she said, she sees the need for them. Recently, a white woman told her, “This is great, you were so articulate.” This kind of microaggression, with its roots in stereotypes, “happens to Black folks all the time,” Branch Pollard said.

Under Illinois’ “Safe Haven” law, enacted in 2001, a parent is able to safely relinquish an infant 30 days old or younger to a hospital, police station, fire station, or emergency medical facility and to leave the infant with personnel of the facility without fear of legal repercussions.
The brothers appear to have little in the way of serious criminal backgrounds, though both were on probation for separate cases at the time of the shooting. Emonte Morgan pleaded guilty to robbery in Cook County court last year, and Eric Morgan pleaded guilty to theft in Dane County, Wisconsin, records show.
