In a statement about the fatal shooting, authorities said they were dispatched to the 7700 block of South Carpenter Street at 7:26 a.m., and “responding officers encountered” a man who was involved in a dispute with someone else in the apartment. Officials said a knife was recovered from the unit where the shooting occurred but did not say whether anyone had been holding it.

Two men were shot, one fatally, in the 3400 block of West Douglas Boulevard in Lawndale around 3 p.m. Sunday, police said. A 43-year-old man was in front of an apartment building when a light-colored vehicle pulled up. A person inside the vehicle pulled out a firearm and shot the man, who suffered a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died. He had not been identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office early Monday.

“It’s going to be good and bad at the same time,” Dunn said under an overcast sky. “The good, it’s a new opportunity and life is all about change. The bad, the memories. We’re all going to miss Lake Shore Drive. We’re going to miss the Bears. But if they leave — that’s an if — whatever’s toward the future, I’m going to support them, regardless,” Dunn said. “Arlington Heights, if they move, here I come.”
