Attorney General Keith Ellison, whose office is prosecuting the officers, has said allegations that his office was involved in a leak are false. His office had no immediate comment on the allegations of coercion. A spokeswoman for Dr. Andrew Baker, the medical examiner, said they could not comment due to the pending case.
The 20-year-old was shot in the head, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was identified as Enrique Gonzalez and died due to multiple gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner’s office. Perez and Gonzalez both lived near where they were shot, according to records.

Meanwhile, Illinois health officials Wednesday reported 1,795 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 26 additional deaths. That brings the state’s totals to 1,359,748 cases and 22,285 deaths. There were 70,216 tests reported in the previous 24 hours and the seven-day statewide positivity rate as a percent of total tests was 2.7%.
Police said the 53-year-old man had been “consuming alcohol,” when he got into a dispute with his neighbor. During the argument, “the two men got into a physical altercation,” and the other man “fired a handgun,” the police statement said.

Guzman Rivas was taken in by her high school counselor, Sara Huser, her husband and their four children. A GoFundMe raised more than $12,000 to pay for her $2,000 bond and other expenses. Guzman Rivas graduated from high school last year and made the dean’s list in her first year at McHenry County College, Huser said.
