“I’ve got to tell you, what’s carrying this data is the neighborhood schools like Amundsen,” new CPS CEO Pedro Martinez said at a news conference at Amundsen High School on the North Side. “I will always applaud our amazing magnet schools and selective enrollment programs, but I’ll tell you, our neighborhood schools, when you look at the quality programming that we have, the outcomes that we are getting, I’m sorry, folks, I mean, I’ll put these schools against anybody in the country.”

The study was also conducted before the Delta variant became the dominant strain of COVID-19, Tanna said. Additionally, the study primarily looked at antibody counts, which are a good measure of general resistance; however, it didn’t look at the T-cell response, which is harder to measure but is indicative of how well a vaccine limits the severity of the illness.
Thursday morning, Lyons police Chief Thomas Herion said the two arrested were a 28-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman. Their names have not been released, pending charges of possession of a weapon, possession of narcotics and possession of a stolen vehicle to be filed, Herion said.
