Albert Burage, 39, is accused of stabbing a 44-year-old CTA employee on the platform of the Jackson Blue Line station, at 328 S. Dearborn St., and striking a police officer in the back with a blunt object Sunday night. Burage allegedly pulled the CTA employee off a train and onto the platform before stabbing him multiple times after a “physical altercation,” according to a media notification from Chicago police.

She was unable to provide a more detailed sequence of events, including whether the guards complied with orders to hand over the money and were shot anyway, or if they resisted and were shot in an effort to get to the money. It wasn’t clear how much money was taken and she did not have an update as to the number of armed men or whether any of them had been arrested as of Monday afternoon.

The man, 26, was found lying on the train tracks shortly before 4 a.m. after he was struck by an eastbound train, according to an Oak Park Police summary report. The CTA said the collision occurred outside the Oak Park station, which is located between the two directions of traffic on the Eisenhower Expressway between Oak Park Avenue and East Avenue, near the Oak Park Conservatory.

In planning the next steps, Lightfoot said Chicago officials are prioritizing infrastructure, transportation, lead pipes, broadband work and infrastructure around electric vehicles. Lightfoot said she’s “particularly excited about some of the things that haven’t gotten the attention,” like expanding broadband internet access around the city and upgrading electric vehicle infrastructure.
