“When COVID first started, there was a lot of judgment about those who were getting sick,” said Sheehan Fisher, a psychologist and assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Now, he said, as vaccinated people who followed regulations test positive or feel sick, “They fear that others assume that they are not following the regulations.”
Doctors also, however, cautioned that it’s important to balance the need for safety with children’s mental health. Parents should control what they can control within their own homes — such as wake times, bed times, and positive relationships — to help kids through this latest surge, especially as some schools go remote, said Dr. Laura Yahr Nelson, a pediatric psychiatrist with Aurora Children’s Health.
“On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, the CTU illegally directed its members … not to report to work as directed but to work remotely instead from January 5 until the earlier of January 18 or when CPS meets certain health metrics,” CPS lawyers said in the filing.
