Other airlines have taken varying approaches to requiring vaccines for employees. Southwest Airlines said at the end of February no employees had lost jobs over vaccine rules. At American Airlines, unvaccinated employees, including those with religious or medical accommodations, were required to complete weekly health declarations, wear masks and social distance.

The terra cotta skyscrapers are deteriorating, but still stand tall as seminal developments in downtown Chicago. Completed in 1915, the 16-story Century Building at 202 S. State St. was designed by Holabird & Roche, a pioneering Chicago architecture firm that built a number of prominent commercial high-rises. The 22-story Consumers Building at 220 S. State St. was completed in 1913 and designed by Jenney, Mundie & Jensen. Lead architect William Le Baron Jenney is credited as building the first modern skyscraper, the nearby Home Insurance Building, in 1885.

Twenty-five years in the making, according to Alia Bilal, IMAN’s deputy executive director, the Fresh Market is a re-imagined model of the traditional neighborhood corner store that is centered on health, wellness and healing with its inventory of fresh produce, vegan and gluten-free foods. Urban farmers, local food vendors and entrepreneurs can sell their products through the market on the ground level while residents can attend wellness classes on the second story. Bilal and Sana Syed, IMAN’s senior director of strategic initiatives, said access to healthy food through the Fresh Market is part of a vision that will strengthen the 63rd Street corridor and serve as an anchor in the ecosystem of future developments in the Englewood area.
