Blacks in Green Launches New Art Space in West Woodlawn

Blacks in Green is proud to present the BIG Clubhouse — an art space located in the West Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago that will host workshops focused on all things artistic and creative!

The BIG Clubhouse speaks to BIG’s 7th principle of Green-Village-Building – EDUCATION – where each village fosters life-long learning through hubs, which are epicenters for green training, development, and lifestyle transformation.

Our 8 Principles are a part of our Sustainable Square Mile™ – a whole-system solution for the whole-system problem common to Black communities everywhere, and considered the gold standard for Black community economic development where African American families walk-to-work, walk-to-shop, walk-to-learn, walk-to-play, own the businesses, own the land, and live the conservation lifestyle.

If you are looking for a new hobby, this is the place for you!

We are kicking off our new space with stained glass art classes – but there’s lots in store in the near future, including painting, drawing, photography, building bird feeders and much more.

The BIG Clubhouse will be organized and led by Gwen Pruitt, our Director of BIG Botanic Gardens, Farms and Arboretum and a true artist at heart. Gwen has approximately 40 years of experience as an art educator and artist in diverse mediums, and will be leading our stained glass art classes!

If you have any questions, please email or call Gwen Pruitt at gwen.pruitt@blacksingreen.org or 312-852-6714.
