The 35-year-old man exited a CTA Blue Line train shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of South Dearborn Street in the Loop neighborhood and asked for water from a person waiting on the CTA platform, police said in a media notification. A witness noticed the man had been stabbed several times in the left arm, and called 911, police said.

A 21-year-old man was shot in the head, and was taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago. Another 21-year-old man suffered a wound to the shoulder, and was taken in fair condition to Advocate Christ in Oak Lawn. Police later said two people died in the Gresham shooting but did not immediately have information on who was the second deceased victim.

After a six-inning, two-run performance against the Tigers, Arrieta didn’t show signs of being hampered by a cut on his thumb that cost him a start.
