This week’s vote by congressional Republicans to remove Wyoming U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership post highlighted the GOP divide. U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a Channahon Republican who leads the “Country First” political action committee, supported Cheney. Republican U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, of Oakland in east-central Illinois, remains steadfast in her support for former President Donald Trump, and has caused some controversy along the way. Miller said the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney was out of step with the Republican Party and it was time for someone else to fill her leadership position.

According to an unscientific online poll, most respondents said they were feeling optimism following the change describing their feelings with words like “excited,” “relieved,” “thrilled” and “It’s about time!” On the flip side, about a third of respondents expressed concern or confusion following the eased restrictions with responses like “Too soon,” “nervous,” “very disappointed” and “It feels too early.”

“I’m feeling the best I’ve felt in about two years, so I’m super excited to get going,” Reynolds, 20, told the Tribune in February. “They’re going to make the decision that they’re going to make for what they feel is best for me and my development, but I’m going into the season with the mindset of trying to earn a spot and trying to be a major contributor to this team.”
