A 26-year-old man was shot in the head, and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A 25-year-old man suffered a wound to the shoulder, and was taken in fair condition to the same hospital. A 23-year-old man was shot twice in the right arm, and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. A 21-year-old man was shot in the head, and was taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago. Another 21-year-old man suffered a wound to the shoulder, and was taken in fair condition to Advocate Christ in Oak Lawn. Police later said two people died in the Gresham shooting but did not immediately have information on who was the second deceased victim.

After a six-inning, two-run performance against the Tigers, Arrieta didn’t show signs of being hampered by a cut on his thumb that cost him a start.
