“This nomination is deeply shameful. As mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel helped cover up the murder of Laquan McDonald — a mere teenager when he was shot 16 times in the back by a Chicago police officer,” Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, said in a statement. “This alone should be flatly disqualifying for any position of public trust, let alone representing the United States as an ambassador.”
“We take seriously, and will vigorously investigate, any criminal offense that contributes to the distrust around vaccines and vaccination status,” said Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Polite Jr. of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division in a written statement. “The Department of Justice and its law enforcement partners are committed to protecting the American people from these offenses during this national emergency.”
The advisories were issued along the coast from Wisconsin to Indiana, including all of the northern Illinois shoreline. The weather service warned: “Swimming conditions will be life-threatening, especially for inexperienced swimmers.” The waves are expected to be from 3 to 6 feet high, “which are typically the most deadly as they can catch swimmers off-guard.”

Since 2005, meanwhile, the Postal Service has been cited by the federal government 1,150 times for underpaying letter carriers and other employees, including one case that involved 164 violations, according to Labor Department data obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request. The agency determined that those workers lost about $659,000 in pay. But it allowed the Postal Service to pay back less than half after negotiations with the agency — a common practice at the Labor Department. About 19% of the cases did not indicate whether the Postal Service paid back employees.
“This year has been tough for me, obviously, the numbers aren’t where I want them to be,” Ball told the Tribune Tuesday afternoon. “I think COVID year may have had something to do with that, and no excuses at all. But different parts of the game that I take pride in is being a complete hitter — not just solely relying on home runs. Officers Jeffery Shafer and Victor Guebara were each charged with aggravated battery and official misconduct, both felonies, and are scheduled to appear for a bond hearing later Wednesday in the Leighton Criminal Court building, according to court records and Tandra Simonton, a spokeswoman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.
“We cut the roster based on the 53 best guys that we thought could help our football team,” Roseman said. “And then going forward, when we look at guys, we’re going to look at them based on their ability, how they fit our system, what their background is, to make sure we’re bringing in the right people into this building. That’s really how all our discussions have been about.”
