Early Monday,125 members of the Teamsters Local 703 went on strike at the Des Plaines facility, saying Sysco had failed to bargain in good faith on a new contract. Since negotiations started in January, “almost no progress has been made,” the union said in a news release. The contract expired in February 2020 but was temporarily extended.
Earlier this year, the McHenry County Board voted to continue keeping immigrants in the jail, despite pleas by immigrant advocates to end the practice. The federal contract has paid the county up to $10 million annually in some years, but much less recently following COVID-related reductions. The McHenry jail recently has been holding about 180 immigration detainees.

The Bears are signing sixth-year NFL receiver Breshad Perriman, ESPN reported. Perriman, whom the Detroit Lions cut earlier this week, has 125 catches for 2,066 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career. He had 30 catches for 505 yards and three touchdowns last season with the New York Jets.
