Illinois, the project’s nonfederal sponsor, signed an agreement with the Army Corps in December 2020 to complete the preconstruction engineering and design phase, estimated at $29 million and expected to take three to four years. Illinois and Michigan committed to providing the nonfederal share of just over $10 million.
“Typically, surgical intervention in a tibial plateau fracture is to reduce an offset in the articular cartilage — in other words, to make it smoother once again,” Dr. Michael Miranda, chief of orthopedic trauma at Hartford Hospital, told The Courant. “The other reason would be to increase stability. There may have been some displacement, which they felt required surgical intervention.”

Police and paramedics were called to the West Elsdon neighborhood Jewel-Osco, 5320 S. Pulaski Road, at 5:10 p.m. for a report of a shooting, according to a media notification from Chicago police. The 32-year-old had been shot at least once in the head, and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, officials said.
The proposed ordinance follows state statute and would prohibit dispensaries or infusion organizations from locating within 500 feet from a school, church, park or residential care home and 1,500 feet from another cannabis business. The proposed changes also would prohibit a cultivation center from locating within 1,500 feet from a school, church, park or residential care facility.
