Businesses have been dealing with supply chain problems and higher costs for months. It has been a key concern for investors as big companies pass those costs off to consumers, who have so far been absorbing higher prices on everything from groceries to clothing and other consumer products. On Friday, the Labor Department reported that consumer prices surged 6.8% for the 12 months ending in November, the biggest increase in 39 years.
“The agreement concludes nearly 10 years of litigation and will result in the creation and distribution of a settlement fund to benefit those staff members affected by the turnarounds,” the CTU statement read. “Resolving this matter is in CPS students’ best interest and will allow the District to move forward while the impacted teachers and staff will receive some compensation for the harm that was done to them. As a union, we have fought for increased funding for schools, adequate staffing and fair treatment of all teachers, regardless of race.”

Several hours before the shooting, Reed and Hearns, 31, had a “brief but heated encounter” at a tavern in Kenosha, authorities said. Reed is alleged to have gone later to Hearns’ apartment building, police said, and fired several rounds into Hearns’ apartment from the lawn, according to reports.

Schuler, who in addition to serving as president of Abbott Laboratories from 1987-1989, is also a founding investor of Ventana Medical Systems and Stericycle Inc., which sterilizes and recycles medical infectious waste, and his wife, Renate, plan to give all his wealth to the Lake Forest, Illinois-based Schuler Education Foundation that he founded to help send underserved students to selective colleges.
