Bruce Claver, 57, of the 3000 block of Knollwood Lane, was charged Friday with predatory criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse following a complaint made on Jan. 10, according to a news release Monday. The continued investigation of these incidents revealed two additional complaints involving separate minor children. Claver was brought to the Skokie Courthouse for a bond hearing on Feb. 5.
Gary Police Chief Brian Evans, at a Monday afternoon news conference at Gary Police Headquarters, said the officer, identified as Sgt. William Fazekas, 54, was patrolling the area of 4th Avenue and Lincoln Street around 12:57 p.m. when he saw a vehicle hit another vehicle. As Fazekas approached the scene to offer assistance, a person in the car that hit the other vehicle shot at and hit him in the left shoulder, Evans said.
The city, after asking for more time to respond, denied the request entirely. When the Tribune appealed the matter, the attorney general’s office said not all of the records were exempt but that the city could redact information that identified the alleged victim, witnesses and “particularly graphic, sexually explicit portions.”

The Hawks announced Monday they interviewed Cubs assistant GM Jeff Greenberg for the position. Greenberg is the first person outside of the NHL interviewed and one of five candidates the team has met with in the last week, joining Hawks interim GM Kyle Davidson, Carolina Hurricanes assistant GM Eric Tulsky, former Montreal Canadians assistant GM Scott Mellanby and St. Louis Blues vice president of hockey operations Peter Chiarelli.

Jeremiah Perry, 20, appeared for his first hearing in court since a Lake County grand jury retuned a 16-count felony indictment in the December death of Damari Perry, 5.
