At least seven people were victims of armed robbers who were traveling in a white sedan overnight in North Center and Lakeview, Chicago police said.
The robberies happened within minutes of each other. Police described the suspects as “young.”
The first robbery occurred around 11:35 p.m. when a 63-year-old woman was walking in the 2100 block of West Grace Street. A white sedan approached and two robbers brandishing rifles got out and demanded her property, police said.
About 11:40 p.m., a 42-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of North Leavitt Street when two robbers got out of a white sedan with rifles and demanded his property before fleeing the scene, police said.
Shortly before 11:45 p.m., a 61-year-old man walking in the 1700 block of West Berteau Avenue was robbed by two robbers who got out of a white sedan with rifles.
Shortly before midnight, two 43-year-old men and a woman, 32, were standing on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of West Roscoe Street when a white sedan approached. One robber got out of the sedan brandishing a hand gun and another robber had a rifle, police said.
Hours later, at 2:45 a.m., a 67-year-old man was walking home in the 900 block of West Dakin Street when two robbers in a white sedan jumped out and, implying they had a weapon, demanded his property, police said.
Moments later, the suspects were found near a white sedan by officers and the last victim’s belongings were found. The suspects were arrested. Detectives are investigating.
