At least three Chicago firefighters were injured at an extra-alarm blaze at a high-rise building on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in the South Loop neighborhood, officials said.
About 8 a.m., a 311 alert was called at the building located at 1212 S. Lakeshore Drive where a mayday was called.
Officials said one firefighter was critically injured.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said officials were still trying to locate all firefighters at the scene, and three were taken to the hospital. One was very critically injured, Langford said.
The critically injured firefighter was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, officials said. As of 8:45 a.m., all firefighters at the scene were located.
Crews were requesting more hose line and firefighters were walking hose up to the 26 floor, officials said.
The building built in 1970 has 35 floors, according to online information.
