An Antioch area man was found fatally shot Wednesday evening in the driveway of his home, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office,
He has been identified as William Martys, 59, of the 40700 block of North Black Oak Avenue. His death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
Police responded to his residence about 7:35 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of an unresponsive man on a driveway.
Paramedics were already on scene and attempting lifesaving measures when police arrived. Martys was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy conducted Thursday revealed that Martys died from a gunshot to the head.
The investigation into his death is continuing by the sheriff’s office and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.
