Chicago Sky guard Kahleah Copper is a WNBA All-Star for the third consecutive year.
Copper was named Saturday to a group of 12 reserves for the July 15 All-Star Game in Las Vegas.
This has been a transformative year for Copper, who became the leader of the Sky’s new identity as the only returning starter from last season’s record-setting roster. Copper is averaging a career-high 16.5 points while shooting 43% from the field and 41.5% from 3-point range. She adds 0.7 steals per game as a linchpin of the Sky’s perimeter defense.
Copper was the only Sky player selected to this year’s All-Star rosters, which will feature teams captained by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart. She was a reserve in both of her previous All-Star appearances.
Former Sky standouts Courtney Vandersloot and Elena Delle Donne also were selected as reserves.
Wilson and Stewart will draft their teams from the pool of eight other starters and the 12 reserves on July 8 (noon, ESPN). The All-Star Game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC-7.
