Four people were shot, one fatally, when a shooter fired from one car into another in Chicago’s Ashburn neighborhood Monday, police said.
The four men were traveling east in the 2300 block of West 79th Street at 2:35 p.m. when someone inside another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction opened fire, police said. The victims’ car then crashed into a semi-truck, and the shooter’s car fled.
A 20-year-old man shot in the head was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He had not yet been identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as of Monday night.
The youngest victim, a 16-year-old, was shot in the arm and transported to University of Chicago Hospital. Bullets struck two more men, ages 19 and 21, in the leg. All three were reported to be in good condition, police said.
Officers recovered four weapons at the scene of the shooting, but no one is in custody, police said. Detectives are investigating.
