An 11-year-old girl, two teenagers and a 29-year-old woman were wounded in two shootings in Gresham on the South Side early Monday, according to Chicago police.

Officers were called to the first shooting at 12:40 a.m. in the 8600 block of South Halsted Street after a man walked up to a group of several people who were standing in the street and fired a gun, leaving an 11-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound in her left leg. Paramedics took her to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she most recently had been listed in fair condition.

The second shooting happened about 10 minutes later in the 8500 block of South Peoria Street around 12:50 a.m. Monday. Another group of people had been standing in the street when shots were fired, wounding a 16-year-old boy in his left arm and left leg, police said. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where he most recently had been listed in serious condition.

A 17-year-old girl also suffered a graze wound to her back during the second shooting; she had been listed in good condition at University of Chicago Medical Center.

Police said a 29-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the head and had been listed in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A police spokeswoman did not answer additional questions about the attacks, including whether investigators believe the shootings were related. A physical description of the shooter or shooters was not available.

“Both investigations are still ongoing. There are no available updates at this time,” according to the spokeswoman.

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning and the cases remain under investigation by detectives.
